Citrus fruit are easily recognizable for their shape, bright colours, and textures. In this large nutrition-filled family we find oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruit, clementines, tangerines, mandarins, pomelos, citrons, and kumquats among others, each coming in a number of varieties!

How to pick

To pick a juice-filled fruit, choose a citrus fruit that is heavy for its size. Avoid bruised, puffy or soft-skinned fruit.

How to store

Since they stop ripening when picked, citrus fruit have the advantage of keeping longer. You can store them in the fridge for about a week, except for oranges, which can be stored for up to one month!

How to prepare

In addition to being filling and rich in nutrients, citrus fruit are versatile, refreshing, and tasty. Their fragrant flavour allows you to prepare them in a number of ways using their juice, zest or flesh in delicious sweet or savory dishes, drinks, or simply to enhance flavours. For example, use the juice from one lemon or lime to season fish, the zest of an orange in a dressing, or some grapefruit segments in a crisp salad.
