Deeply coloured, with a juicy, sweet and tart flavour, blackberries are a popular favourite.

How to choose

When you choose your berries, make sure they’re a nice, dark purple and that there are no signs of bruising. Make sure that none are crushed or mouldy.

How to store

Blackberries are relatively fragile, so it’s best to eat them two or three days after purchase. Keep them in the refrigerator in their carton or in an airtight container, only rinsing them just before eating.

How to eat

As with its peer the raspberry, take a chance and try blackberries unadorned in salads, with ice cream or in a chocolate fondue. Cook them in a pie, mould them into a jelly or use them in a mouthwatering jam!
