  • 500 ml maple syrup
  • 341 ml Maudite beer (1 bottle)
  • Cake batter
  • 250 ml sugar
  • 250 ml butter (softened)
  • 3 egg(s)
  • 250 ml flour
  • 15 ml baking powder
  • 1 ml salt
  • 125 ml milk
  • 5 ml vanilla extract

Syrup
  1. To prepare syrup, mix together the brown sugar, maple syrup, and beer in a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil and boil 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Pour syrup in bottom of a 23-cm (9-in.) glass Pyrex-style cake pan (2-L / 8-cup capacity).
Cake batter
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix together sugar, butter, and eggs with an electric beater. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a third small bowl, mix together milk and vanilla.
  5. Alternately add flour mixture and milk mixture to the egg mixture. Mix 2 or 3 minutes until batter is smooth.
  6. Top syrup with cake batter.
  7. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Use a tooth pick to test cake’s doneness.
